O’s Notes: Drummer Mike Clark assembles a fine team for Kosen Rufu (World Peace), a free spirited, jazz-fusion set. The rhythms are furious with Wayne Horvitz playing piano & Rhodes, Henry “The Skipper” Franklin on bass, percussionist Bill Summers, and Clark. The syncopated horns, Skerik (sax) and Eddie Henderson (t), make it funky. “Barbecue on Austin“ is a good example that brings it all together. We also enjoyed “Love Mingus“, “Signature”, and “Apparition”.
