O’s Notes: Joe Taylor is a veteran guitarist who has performed with countless R&B, pop and smooth jazz artists as well as performing and recording as a leader. Last Boat Home is his latest album with Jeff Franzel (p), Paul Adamy (b), and Ray Marchica (d, perc). Each of them contributes elements to the mix, a fine collection, easy listening, bluesy, smooth jazz that will appeal to a wide audience. We liked “Bumba” and “Well I Reckon”, both featuring Taylor. “Royal Street”, the laid back “Melba”, and grooving “Kinda Greasy” are also notable.
