O’s Notes: Lemon Tree is the debut recording of Seattle-based vocalist, songwriter Alex Baird. She opens the set with the swinging “It’s You I Dig” followed by the country blues of “All I Needed” and “Connection”. Trumpeter Thomas Marriott adds a beautiful solo on “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”. Darrell Grant (p), Clark Sommers (b), Mark Ferber (b), and Lucas Winter (g) round out the band. Baird is best singing and scatting on bop tunes like “Lemon Tree” and warm classics like “Save Your Love for Me” and “It’s No Time to Be Blue”.
