O’s Notes: Les Mots Blues features vocalist Loïs Le Van and tenor saxophonist Alban Darche. They perform in many different trios with different musicians on piano, guitar, bass, sax, and harp. They open with a soft ballad, “Comme D’habitude”, then dance on “I’ll Be Seeing You” with Sylvan Rifflet (t-sax) joining the headliners. We also enjoyed “Les Moulins De Mon Coeur” with Baptiste Trotignon (p), and “My Imagination” with Leïla Soldevila (b). The arrangements are unique with lots of air around the musicians. The one grew on us!
