O’s Notes: Pianist Richard Shulman is back with his trio including bassist Zack Page and drummer Rick Dilling. For Life Seasons the trio plays alone, with a vocal quartet and with featured vocalists. Paula Hanke delivers beautiful vocals on the title track that also features special guest Ron Clearfield (cello). Ron shines again on “Spinning into Winter” with vocalist Wendy Jones. The vocal quartet delivers rich harmonies on “Bohemian Summer” and “Velvet Shoes” while the trio shines on “Pre-Autumn”. The variety of musical approaches for Schulman’s compositions makes this a fresh and relaxing encounter.
