O’s Notes: No doubt the music of Django Reinhardt was energetic and pleasurable listening. Today it remains that way especially as performed by the stellar cast of musicians gathered as the Django Allstars. Art Cohen (sax) appears as a guest. Guitarist/violinist Dorado Schmitt composed five of the fifteen selections, all inspired by Django. Six of the fifteen were captured during a live set at Birdland and the rest were French studio recordings. Regardless of the origin, the music swings, as Reinhardt would have today.
