O’s Notes: The Soul Message Band is Chris Foreman on the B3, drummer Greg Rockingham and guitarist Lee Rothenberg. We’ve seen Chris and Greg live in Chicago on a few occasions and the energy in the room is incredible. They bring that to Ann Arbor’s Jazz scene Live At Blue Llama. They cook on “Matador”, take us to church on “Midnight Special” with Rothenberg’s bluesy guitar, and simmer on “Easy Time”, three of the five lengthy selections with generous solos and an appreciative audience.
