O’s Notes: Club D’Elf is a world jazz-fusion band featuring John Medeski (keyboards, B3), Mike Rivard (b, sintir), Duke Levine (g), Dean Johnson (d), Mister Rourke (DJ) and Brahim Fribgane (oud, voice, Percival). The groove moves in many directions but has a solid, funky club feel especially on the second disc that includes Thomas Workman (fl) for the first two tracks. Much of the music has an East Indian vibe. Our favorites are “The Booloolu”, a percussion rich tune, “Green Screen” and the slow savory funk of “Salvia”. Live At Club Helsinki is not in Finland, rather in Hudson, NY! Regardless of where they are, Club D’Elf still has a global funky groove popping!
