O’s Notes: Tenor saxophonist Jacob Chung is whaling in front of the Tyler Henderson Trio for Live at Frankie’s Jazz Club in Vancouver. Jacob, Tyler (p), Caleb Tobocman (b), and Hank Allen Barfield (d) are fresh with energy coming off their Canadian tour. We were engaged by their spirit on “Jeannine”, “She”, and the swinging “The Touch Of Your Lips” featuring Henderson. Those are just a few of eight energetic selections! They also shine with the reduced velocities of “This Is No Laughing Matter” and “Beautiful Friendship”.
