O’s Notes: Bassist/conductor John Clayton and drummer Jeff Hamilton lead a big band that swings with a lot of energy. There is a lot of brass and they exhibit a lot of poise, passion and control while displaying power. Among the cast are Ricky Woodard (sax), Eugene ‘Snooky’ Young (t) and George Bohanon (tb). John also contributes a strong solo on “Nature Boy”. The songs are mostly newly arranged classics with strong passionate solos like on “Mood Indigo”.
