O’s Notes: Born as the Meters in the late 1960s, Art Neville (keyboards), George Porter, Jr. (b), Brian Stoltz (g) and David Russell Batiste, Jr. (d) are still jamming! They morphed into the Funky Meters in 1994 and this DVD features them live at the 2000 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. To start, the only way to really get funky is with a live drummer and Batiste has all of the syncopation and energy to anchor the beats. Add a taste of harmonized vocals, and a jamming spirit and you’ve got a party, live! The video quality and 5.1 Audio is excellent bringing the combination of funky R&B with New Orleans Jazz right into your living room.
