O’s Notes: Saxophonist Kevin Sun leads a trio with bassist Walter Stinson and drummer Kayvon Gordon for his latest release. It is a change from what he’s produced in the past and what many consider jazz. The birth of the music was at Brooklyn’s Lowlands Bar, before polishing the music at Sear Sound Studio in Manhattan. There are nine tracks displaying a wide array of experimental configurations and techniques. The program has heavy, percussion, rocking rage and screeching horror all coming together on LowFi At Lowlands. Our favorite is the syncopated finale, “Time-Warped Blues”.
