O’s Notes: Vocalist Allegra Levy takes on the challenge of putting lyrics to the compositions of trumpeter/composer John McNeil on Lose My Number, Allegra speaks many themes of romance in a collection of nine very different tunes. Carman Staff does a fine job on piano along with bassist Carmen Rothwell and drummer Coleen Clark. Pierre Dørge plays ukulele on “Ukelele Tune” and Levy comes to the conclusion that she’d rather dance alone on “Strictly Ballroom”. Each of the musicians stands out when given the spotlight making this a good set.
