O’s Notes: Janinah Burnett is a world class soprano who is equally at home singing opera, on Broadway, and soulful jazz. Love Is The Color of Your Butterfly illustrates her musical journey up to now. Terreon Gully (d, perc), Christian Sands (p), Ben Williams (b) and Luques Curtis (b) are some of fine supporting cast. She opens with “Creole Girl” singing with a voice that would resonate throughout an opera hall. As we got into it with more spiritual tunes like “Keep Your Eyes On The Prize” and “I Loves You Porgy”, we gained an even greater appreciation for Burnett’s vocal strength, range and tone. She is a remarkably talented vocalist.
