O’s Notes: Many know composer and pianist Oscar Hernandez as the famed bandleader for the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. His latest release is“Love The Moment“following the highly lauded“The Art of Latin Jazz. Alma Libre is excellent including many first call musicians featuring Justo Almario (sax, fl), with Oskar Cartaya (b) and guests Gilbert Castellanos (t) and Dayren Santamaria (violin). There is a heavy dose of cool, Caribbean rhythms on this one highlighted by tunes like ‘Alternate Route‘ with excellent work by Cartaya and Christian Moraga (perc).
