O’s Notes: This is a fusion of two masters: the legendary blues man Robert Johnson and living legend guitarist Eric Clapton. Eric plays 14 of Johnson’s best tunes and plays them well. The fusion is reminiscent while also full of Clapton’s character. He gets help on guitar from Andy Fairweather Low and Doyle Bramble II while Jerry Portnoy plays the harmonica with Steve Gadd (d), Billy Preston (keyboards) and bassist Nathan East. They make up a band that puts you in a Mississippi or Memphis jook joint. You can’t go wrong with Me and Mr. Johnson.
