O’s Notes: French-Canadian jazz trumpeter, composer Rachel Therrien leads her Latin Jazz Project, a band that shares her passion for Latin, American jazz, and in this case Cuba! Her trumpet tones are warm and rich on “Capricho Arabe” featuring Cuban pianist Miguel de Armas, with a solid calypso bass line from Alex Bellegarde. There’s a relaxed version of “Con Alma” with Manuel Valera on piano, and the swinging, upbeat “Mojo” in the middle of seven songs that serve as a festive platform for Therrien on Mi Hogar.
