O’s Notes: Dr. Rex Bell is a pathologist in Arkansas. He is also a very busy composer and pianist. Microcosmic Conceptions is one of several recent releases with the Rex Bell Trio featuring bassist Joe Vick, Dave Rogers on drums and leader Bell on piano. This is a tribute to the late Hungarian pianist and composer Bela Bartok. Bell wrote seven original tunes to go along with three classic jazz covers notably “Little Sunflower”. It is solid entertainment.
