O’s Notes: The Sultans of Swing are Chris Mickhool (violins), Kevin Laliberti (g), Eddie Paton (g), Drew Briston (b) and Rosendo Léon (d). The program has twelve new age, flamenco, Latin infused tunes that are upbeat and celebratory. Mickhool handles melodies for most selections. “Emerald Swing” has a heavy dollop of bluegrass while “Road To Kfarmishki” gives us a taste of Indian music. We enjoyed the bossa nova beats of “Orquidea”, the calypso on “To You” and the racy blues of “Ernie’s Bounce” best in this hodgepodge of styles.
