O’s Notes: The buttery smoothness of Ruby’s cornet makes these standards enjoyable time after time. The rest of the quintet: John Bunch (p), Howard Alden (g), Michael Moore(b) and Kenny Washington (d) are polished musicians that make strong contributions without gimmickry. They take their time and let the musical sweetness emerge from their instruments with classic material from the 1930 – 50s, stuff that we all can appreciate.
