O’s Notes: Mark (flutes) is joined by producer/arranger Richard Boukas (g), Nilson Matta (b), Paulo Braga (d) and Vanderlei Pereira (percussion). This is contemporary Brazilian music. The composer of the original work was Hermeto Pascoal. The collection from which these thirteen songs are extracted is “Calendário do Som”, 366 vignettes written one-a-day in 1966 to celebrate his sixtieth birthday. It has all of the peace and tranquility that speaks of a relaxing day on the white sandy beaches of Brazil!
