O’s Notes: Mike is the consummate guitarist and he displays a cool confidence during this set whether he’s playing solo or with the band. His notes are deliberate and thought provoking. The music is jazzy with bop undertones. This approach will engage many listeners. It is mostly instrumentals but the mood is warm especially on “Perfect Mood” where Mike pairs his guitar with the sax of Dominic Lali for a bossa nova melody. Other favorites are “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and the calypso beats of “Initial Flight”.
