O’s Notes: Paul opens with “Silbertones” which sets the stage for what’s coming on My New Attitude. It is a collection of ten new songs. They are all mellow with the melodies shared between Paul (g) and Scott Burns on tenor sax. Both men demonstrate the ability to burn and mesmerize throughout the set. Bassist Charles Ledvina steps up nicely on “East of the Sun” along with some dazzling work on piano from Steve Einerson. Drummer Brian Ritter anchors the team with sharp beats and precise fills. He comes out of his shoes on the title track with a resounding solo. “Relocation” is a signature piece that accentuates the theme of the set. Paul’s got attitude and it resonates through the band with positive results. This is Sibergleit’s second release after seven years! He teaches at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Our hope is that we don’t have to wait another seven years for more of his magic! This is first rate neobop.
