O’s Notes: Jazz vocalist Emma Hendrick released her debut Newcomer late in 2025 followed by a tour. It is all original music that she composed during her studies in The Netherlands and Miami. Her primary band is Connor Rohrer (p), Anton Kot (d), Thor Edie Johansen (b), and Shane McCandless (sax). We enjoyed “Dreamscapes” featuring a trumpet solo by David Sneider, the passionate title track with a string quartet, “Tone Poem in Greenwich Village”, “Come On Home” with Peter Eldridge (voice) and Andrew Tinch (g), and “Waste No More Days” including vocalists Amy Azzara and Faith Quashie. We can see why Hendrick has won many vocal and compositional competitions and welcome her on the jazz scene with a promising future.
