O’s Notes: Canadian saxophonist Grant Stewart leads a quartet with Paul Sikivie (b), Tardo Hammer (p), and Phil Stewart (d) on Next Spring, a collection of 9 standards. We liked “Out Of The Past”, the swinging “Kiss & Run”, “Nefertiti”, the fleeting “I Know That You Know” and “There’s No You”. Stewart’s tenor is throaty and warm on the ballads, and he doesn’t miss a beat on the burners.
