O’s Notes: Nick Vayenas is a part the new jazz talent in the big apple. He plays trumpet, trombone, sings and leads sextet for his new self titled release. The program is half Vayenas originals and half covers of jazz standards. He shows his romantic side singing “You Don’t Know What Love Is” and shines with his brass with a taste of bossa nova on “Tea Time”. After years supporting pop star Michael Buble, Nick is busily crafting his own voice. This is a good start.
