O’s Notes: Pianist, composer Angelica Sanchez leads a nonet in a highly improvised session. The band is a nonet with reeds, brass, and a balanced rhythm section. They feed off each other with good interplay on tunes like “Land Here”. There is a touch of madness on “Cloud House” with the squawking sax, but it eventually subsides suggesting a calmness after the storm. Our favorites are “Ringleader”, and “Big Wierdo”. Nighttime Creature is an appropriate title for these nocturnal sounds.
