O’s Notes: Larry leads a swinging quintet with Clayton Dyess (g), Thomas Helton (b), Jose-Miguel Yamal (p) and Joe Slezak (d). Larry’s throaty tenor sax imparts lots of character to the music. The set opens with two jovial tunes “Floatin'” and “How About You” followed by “No Worries” the sole original featuring Dennis Dotson (t) with Yamal on the B3. We enjoyed the covers of “Chico And The Man” and “You’ve Changed”, the first of four selections with Larry shadowed by a lush string orchestra! Sheri Lavo sings “Cry Me A River” and “Wee Small Hours” with the strings adding dramatic variety to a rich session.
