O’s Notes: Keyboardist DOMi Louna and drummer JD Beck give us an electronics-laden contemporary jazz trip on Not Tight including many guest artists. The heavily syncopated rhythms pop on “SMiLE”. We liked their take on Herbie Hancock’s “Moon”, “TWO SHRiMPS” with Bob DeMarco, and “WHOA” with Kurt Rosenwinkle. Thundercat appears on a couple of tracks notably “NOT TiGHT”. Rapper Anderson Paak adds spoken word on “TAKE A CHANCE” and teams up with Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg on “PiLOT”. Don’t judge the music by the cover, this one has some sizzle.
