O’s Notes: This is the soundtrack for “Be Kind Rewind” a movie featuring Mos Def who works in a neighborhood videos store which was once the home of the legendary jazz pianist Fats Waller. So most of the music is tunes written by Waller. Jean-Michel Bernard joins Def performing along with Michael Gondry. This music is solid and covers a wide variety of themes as the actors recreate Robocop, Rush Hour and Ghostbusters within the movie! We particularly liked the suspense generated by “Little Mikey” and drama of “I Ain’t Got Nobody”. We haven’t seen the movie yet but after hearing the music, we’re anxious!
