O’s Notes: There’s a layered compilation of ”All God’s Children Got Rhythm/Little Willie Leaps that really swings as Dena sings in tandem with the legendary Sheila Jordan. They treat us again on “Small Day Tomorrow” bending the notes and bleeding emotions. The band is tight, led by DeRose on the ivory with bassist Martin Wind and drummer Matt Wilson keeping the pace. Guest trumpeter Jeremy Pelt joins for two selections notably “Cross Me Off Your List”. And the venerable Houston Person (t-sax) shines on “The Way We Were” and “The Days of Wine and Roses” to cap fine set.
