O’s Notes: Alan’s (p) trio includes producer Brian Bromberg (b) and Joe LaBarbera (d), two guys who share his penchant for soloing to the immediate mood. They play seven standards surrounding “Journey Home”, the lone original. But lest you think this is just another standards album. Alan insists on playing the songs differently each take. With these musicians, that leads to a very fresh set that really swings. The mood during the recording session was casual and the team was relaxed resulting in an easygoing yet powerful set.
