O’s Notes: Oscar, with Love is a unique celebration of the works of the late maestro Oscar Peterson. The recording was made by sixteen different pianists, all who were inspired and personally interacted with Peterson at some point. All of the music was performed on Oscar’s personal Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano in is home studio in Mississauga! The lineup includes piano all-stars from around the world including Renee Rosnes, Ramsey Lewis, Chick Corea, Hiromi, Michael Legrand, Kenny Barron, Monty Alexander and Bill Charlap! By any standard, that makes this recording unique. But the actual performances make memories of Peterson’s swinging style come back to life, with a smile! Among the best are Oliver Jones (p) rendition of “Celine’s Waltz” with bassist Dave Young and “If Only You Knew” featuring Benny Green. Jazz fans, piano lovers, fans of Peterson and music lovers in general will all find this a worthy addition to their collection.
