O’s Notes: Karl Seglem (sax, t) is the master of Ossicles, a contemporary world jazz album with heavy, club-like bass lines from Gjermund Siislet and ample doses of percussion. Karl composed all or parts of the program – eight selections that are contagious. The music is fresh and presents unique instrumental combinations as on “Måarblå” and “Apal” with Håkon Hegemo playing the fiddle and Erland Dahlen playing tabla, log drum and various other percussion instruments. It is off of the beaten path but worth at least one listen. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.
