O’s Notes: Bassist Henry Heillig defines a Heillig Manoeuvre as a vehicle for sharing music that is both challenging and satisfying, without intimidating its audience. It is also his quartet, a polished team that delivers on ‘Toons. They have a funky swing that is pervasive through the entire set. “Nanaimo Crossing” has a taste of Caribbean reggae courtesy of Heillig’s bass line and Alison Young’s melodic sax. Charlie Cooley (d) keeps the energy high and Stacie McGregor (p) brings them all together.
