O’s Notes: Victor wrote most of the music for Palmystery. It has strong syncopated rhythms with bass led melodies and the occasional vocal message. He uses a lot of family members as well as sprinkling guest appearances from Mike Stern (g), Rod McGaha (t), Karl Denson (sax), Dennis Chambers (d) and Jeff Coffin (sax). The Lee Boys and Saundra Williams sing on “Miss U” where Alvin Lee adds a cool guitar solo. Wooten’s signature is bubbly, funky and quick. You can really appreciate it on “Camba” and “Flex”. “The Lesson” has Latin undertones and a large sound using just bass, handclaps and percussion. We connected on “I Saw God” and liked the refreshed cover of “Song For My Father”. This is a fine effort that stops short of preaching but delivers a strong message with a really cool vibe.
