O’s Notes: Spanish trumpeter, composer Alba Careta blends her native Catalan with traditional jazz to make fresh contemporary jazz-fusion on her latest album Panical. Lucas Martínez (t-sax), Roger Santacana (p), Giuseppe Campisi (b) and Jordi Pallarés (d) support her. Alba soars on “Liliana” and soothes listeners on “Nosaltres les Dones”. We also liked the title track, “Under Water”, “Pangea”, “Diluvi”, and “El Metec”.
