O’s Notes: Gijs Levelt is a Dutch trumpeter and composer of music for theatre shows staged by his life partner, Mariken Bijnen. The objective of his work is to evoke a consistent and powerful atmosphere. The music easily meets that mission. Levelt uses electronics, various percussion, and voice experimenting in his Playground. Our favorites were the music for Augustus Oklahoma, “Cloaca”, and the club beats of “Seismogrove”.
