O’s Notes: Guitarist Yannis Philippakis (and The Yaw) present a new album with the late drummer Tony Allen titled Lagos, Paris, London. The vibe here is progressive rock with emphasis on the ladder, with cool, rock beats and pop lyrics. Yannis shines on “Night Green, Heavy Love” while Allen weighs in across the board, notably on “Under The Strikes”. Our favorite is the closer “Clementine” with a funky pseudo reggae beat.
