O’s Notes: Pianist and composer Cathlene Pineda reflects on the mixed emotions of four years of motherhood for her third release. She assembles a fine quartet with trumpeter Kris Tiner, bassist David Tranchina and drummer Tina Raymond. Tiner’s crisp melodies spill over the tight rhythm section with exacting emotion. There’s a cool, Latin vibe on “Milo” and a calming presence on “Wild Geese IV”. The landscape of Rainbow Baby is rich with evolving moods and replete with calming energy.
