O’s Notes: We continue to hear more strong South African artists and Makeba is one of the best. Her voice is rich and strong and it contrasts well with the relaxed beats from down under. In addition to a couple of originals, Miriam sings covers of American and South African popular songs. “Mas Que Nada”, “I Shall Sing” and “I’m In Love With Spring” with deep male vocals from Nelson Lumumba Lee. We also liked the calypso beats of “Xica Da Silva”. Miriam’s combination of styles with her personal touch makes this an enjoyable set.
