O’s Notes: This is not the cartoon, but a swinging band led by bassist Mighty Joe Belson with Kevin Wong (p), Julian Hogan (d), Carl Schultz (t-sax), Erik Jekabson (t), and Will Shannon(tb). We liked the bubbly “Basie Boy”, a taste of Brazil with “Weenie Martini”, and “Orthopedic Hell” in the 12-song set. They are Reinventing the Wheel with Mighty Joe’s originals cast in yesterday.
