O’s Notes: Taiwanese pianist, composer Jo-Yu Chen creates a Rendezvous of classical and jazz music on her latest release. She’s joined by bassist Chris Tordini and drummer Tommy Crane. The program features works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Ravel and Prokofiev, infused with jazz improvisation. The resulting eight selections are approachable by a large audience. We enjoyed “Swan Lake”, “Romero and Juliet – Dance of the Knights”, and “Pavane Pour Une Infante Défunte”.
