O’s Notes: Santiago Brooklyn Santiago is the story of two Latin pianists coming together and blending their ensembles for an explosive encounter. Arturo O’Farrill and his New York based Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra merge with Marcos Fernández and his Santiago Big Band (from Cuba). There is a wealth of vibrant brass and percussion. This music was recorded during the pandemic and the release shared between Cuba’s Egrem and USA’s Zoho Music, an atypical but appreciable collaboration. “Dialogo”, “Crazy City”, “El Manicero”, and “Pitbull Mambo” are highlights.
