O’s Notes: Jazz vocalist and actress La Tanya Hall burst onto the scene in 2008 and has lived up to her potential during the years since on many stages. Say Yes is only her second release as a leader but it was worth the wait! Pianist, arranger and producer Andy Milne leads the band Unison, a trio with John Hébert (b) and Clarence Penn (d). La Tanya’s voice is symphonic on “Jitterbug” and that style persists throughout the set with minimalist accompaniment from Unison. La Tanya has a voice that speaks volumes alone and with her band, they combine to leave us with a very pleasing palate.
