O’s Notes: Sextet is the latest release from Pitch Rhythm and Consciousness with Charlie Burnham (violin), Tony Jones (t-sax), Kenny Wollesen (d, perc), Maria Hughes (cello), Jessica Jones (t-sax), and Rahsaan Carter (b). They are inspired by the wisdom writings of various religions (Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu, Christian…) the music is rather earthy and reflects the spoken content. This is a unique breed of free jazz that is dynamic. We found “Trouble” and “Prepare A Refuge” to be the most engaging of the dozen selections.
