O’s Notes: Bassist Avery Sharpe pays homage to the legendary ‘original soul sister’ Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She crossed the line between Gospel and secular music defying many traditional views. She was a major influence across many genres. Avery assembles a strong band including Charles Neville (sax), Jeremy Turgeon (t) and The New England Gospel Choir. Guest vocalist Meli’sa Morgan makes her first recording appearance in several years and quickly reminds us of her relevance! The music is slamming and the message is on point making Sharpe Meets Tharpe a successful tribute.
