O’s Notes: Vocalist Pierre L. Chambers’ baritone is super soothing, and his pitch is spot on. The program is rich with pleasing arrangements of classics, and odes to inspirational people in his life. They take their time with “The Nearness of You” and pay homage on “This Mother” and “My Father”. We especially enjoyed the reimagined “Work Song”, “My Favorite Things”, and “Afro Blue”. We’d be remiss without noting the excellent performance by bassist Henry “The Skipper” Franklin throughout the set.
