O’s Notes: Kaze is Satoko Fujii (p), Natsuki Tamura (t), Christian Pruvost (t), Peter Orins (d), with guest vocalist Koichi Makigami. Shishiodoshi is another adventurous session from this team that takes a unique approach to free jazz. The title refers to Japanese bamboo water devices made to frighten away animals that pose a threat to their gardens. That puts the music in perspective! There are three lengthy selections lasting 61 minutes in total. The improvisational vocalizations are intriguing on “Make A Change”, followed by the provoking sounds on the title track and concluding with our favorite “Inspiration 2”.
