O’s Notes: Vibraphonist Eldad Tarmu was inspired by the late Horace Silver for his latest release Silver On Aluminum. Tarmu takes on the role of the pianist in these vibraphone interpretations. While most of the eight selections were written for larger ensembles, Eldad performs with his trio including bassist Marty Isenberg and drummer Michael Shapira. The unique approach yields fine results. “Pyramid”, “Horacescope”, “Gregory Is Here”, and “No Smokin’” are notable.
